Stay on Track this Holiday Season

This blog is coming late and will be short and sweet this week.  December has hit.  Exam season for students and for everyone else, the busy hustle and bustle of Christmas shopping and holiday parties. I’ve been studying and finishing up assignments myself.  I had my first exam on Tuesday and now I’m “off” until the 21st and 22nd with my final two exams.  This just means my time will be filled with working and studying (I hope!)

Today my goal is to remind you all that although this month becomes a busy time of year there are a few things to remember.  Just because it is great to always give to others during the holiday season, do not forget to give to yourself too.  It is a time that people easily fall off track with their health and fitness goals.  Regardless of who you are, student or not, following these few tips will help you be successful and feel great this holiday season.

Plan your day ahead. Whether it is filled with studying, working extra hours, or Christmas shopping, plan ahead for the day.  Once you are aware of your commitments you can plug in your meals and workouts easily.  Better decisions can be made when meal time comes and you won’t skip out on your workout.

Stick to your plan.  The easy part is making the plan, the hard part is sticking to it.  If it is a workout routine you’ve held all fall or a new eating plan, stick with it this holiday season.  Your body will feel better if you take active breaks from whatever is occupying your time and you will feel energized from eating foods that you know make you feel good.
Remember to Relax.  It is a stressful time of year, so always remember to take breaks and relax. Don't fret over the little things because that is when your mind starts to derail and you really lose track of your plan and your studies. Just take everything one step at a time and take deep breaths if you start to feel overwhelmed. Everything will work out how it is supposed to if you take the time and allow yourself to think clearly.

Often times we get caught up in our to do lists and neglect ourselves.  This holiday and exam season help yourselves get through it by giving to your own bodies.  There is nothing wrong with treating ourselves how we want to treat everyone else this season; so enjoy it, and have fun. After all, 'tis the season!

Be fierce. Be strong. Be vibrant.
